what will it take?
© 2008,

I look and see them on
the corner
sitting all alone
I see them huddled in the doorway
a cold place for a home
Tattered clothes and dirty hands
something more inside
Deep within is the emptiness
they try so hard to hide
Open my eyes, they're everywhere
I hear their cries, but do I care?
What will it take for me to give?
They need us to help them live
What will it take?
Hungry hearts and empty souls
day to day they live
Scared to reach, afraid to know
the love we fail to give
Choices made, so many mistakes
Broken memories
Lives undone, but they're still lives
So many tragedies
Open our eyes, they're everywhere
We hear their cries, when will we
care?
What will it take for us to see
that they need You to set them free?
What will it take?
_____
They need our help, but we still say
we'll help them all someday
Stop and think, we should know
someday was a long time ago
What must I do to change your mind?
When will you see there's not much
time?
What will it take?
Open my heart, and let it show
Help me share the love I know
What will it take for me to see
that they need You to set them free
What will it take?
It doesn't take much

The world is full of
hurting people, empty, hungry and lost. But we go about our
daily lives without giving them the slightest thought. We have
forgotten what it's like to be helpless and poor. God wants us
to love, to give and to share the Good News. We must not ignore
the cries for help. |
