o beautiful night

O beautiful night, in the light of Your glory
Glorious day, lead the way, oh lead me Lord

Every night I look to the sky
every night I wonder why
why must it be this way?
I just don't understand
is this really Your great plan?
Is there any other way?

I know You know what's best
still it's so hard to rest
I don't know what to do
so I will trust in You

O beautiful night, in the light of Your glory
Glorious day, lead the way, oh lead me Lord

Every night I see a star
and my hope seems so far
so far away
Will I ever reach my dreams?
Is it as hard as it seems?
Will I ever find my way?

I know Your plan is best
and in that I will rest
I will follow You
and You will show me what to do

O beautiful night, in the light of Your glory
Glorious day, lead the way, oh lead me Lord
_____

When I look and see the moon
I trust that very soon
You'll show me the way
And someday I will find
what I thought I left behind
how I long for that day

I know You have a plan
so I leave it in Your hands
the hands that made the world
the hands that hold me close

O beautiful night, in the light of Your glory
Glorious day, lead the way, oh lead me Lord

Lead me on, lead the way
through the night, into the day
Through the pain, give me joy
lead me home, oh lead me Lord

It's a beautiful night, I'm in the light of Your glory
It's a glorious day, lead the way, oh lead me Lord
Lead me Lord, lead me Lord, oh lead me . . . Lord

One night I went outside and looked up at the sky.  I saw the full moon behind thin, feathery grey clouds.  The sky was dark near the moon, but out around the horizon it was pink and purple, and the clouds there seemed like giant hands, holding the sky.  Right away the chorus to this song came into my head.  That was a beautiful night.  A week or two later I drew a picture with colored pencils. (The photo above was taken months later.)
